Bailey

I am sad to announce, that Bailey Renwick passed away yesterday after fighting a loosing battle with Leukemia. She was diagnosed about 3 weeks ago, and the vet said she maybe had 2 weeks. Bailey fought hard and lasted longer than they expected. She lived a happy life.

Bailey was adopted from the Chicago OES rescue in September of 2002. A generous older gentleman was kind enough to pay for both of her hip surgeries (due to hip dysplasia) and then the Renwicks adopted this one year old, named Bailey. The first time I met her, and came over to visit my future in-laws and she was this friendly, skinny dog with a big cone on her head wiggling her entire body in excitement. She loved people. She gave tons of kisses, and would stand by your side every moment she could.

Bailey wasn't your typical dog. She wasn't a big fan of fetch or running around. She was a home-body and loved to just be around people, and watch. She soon became glued to Jim's hip and would go anywhere with him. She spent many hours in the car or at job sites. She LOVED it. Bailey wasnt a wonderer, so you didnt have to worry about keeping an eye on her while you were outside (unlike her nephew Toby).

Bailey was the queen of the house. Even Willy would try to pretend he was the boss every once in a while, but she put him in his place. Then when Toby came along, he just wanted to play. Bailey would play with him for a while, but when she was done, she told him. Toby would be persistent, and bug and pester, and annoy her. She would show her teeth or growl at him, though he never got the clue; but she was so gentle, she never hurt him no matter how annoying he got.

Bailey did have a fetish for cookies and carrots. If you couldnt get her to move or go someplace, you just had to ask "you want a cookie?", and she would come a running (and yes, i do mean running).

Bailey was a wonderful dog, and we will miss her dearly.

We love you Bailey!!
